13 Armenian Prisoners of War Sentenced to 6 Years in Azerbaijan on False Charges
The authorities of Azerbaijan have launched a fake criminal case against Armenian prisoners of war, accusing them of illegally crossing the border and carrying out terrorist acts in the country.
Thirteen Armenian prisoners of war who are being held illegally in Azerbaijan have been sentenced to six years in prison by a court in Baku based on fabricated charges. After serving their sentence in a high-security prison, these unlawfully convicted Armenian prisoners of war are set to be forcibly expelled.
The reservists were captured in December, in Hadrut, just weeks after the end of the war. This is the third group of Armenian military personnel to be sentenced to imprisonment in Azerbaijan. In total, more than 60 servicemen were captured from the Khztaberd section of the Hadrut region, with 30 being returned by Baku.
