Manvel Paramazyan, We Stand Beside You: Protest in Kajaran

A protest is underway in the community of Kajaran, Syunik, where participants are demanding the release of their mayor, Manvel Paramazyan. They have unveiled banners stating: “Manvel Paramazyan is a freedom fighter, Manvel Paramazyan is freed,” and “In a warring country, a freedom fighter is imprisoned only to the benefit of the enemy.”

One of the protesters stated, “Our country is at war, and the mayors of Syunik have voluntarily gone to the front lines with the spirit of freedom fighters. In a warring nation, unity is required above all, but what do we see? Instead of unity prevailing here, we are witnessing division and political persecution again. A freedom fighter is imprisoned only to the benefit of the enemy. By arresting the mayors of Syunik, they are directly jeopardizing the security of the people.”

Another participant noted that it is inappropriate to imprison a person who is a true resident of Syunik under these circumstances. “Our city is sad without Manvel Paramazyan; we await his freedom. Manvel Paramazyan, we are with you.”

After the speeches, participants of the protest marched through the streets of Kajaran.
