I Relaxed for a Month, Turned Off My Brain, Read Interesting Books, Watched TV: Charchyan

Former director of Izmirlian Medical Center and member of the Armenia Alliance, Armen Charchyan, has just emerged from the Vardashen Penitentiary. In a conversation with journalists, he stated that this is a legal process and he expects to receive his legal response.

When asked who was harmed and who benefited from his detention over the past month, Armen Charchyan said, “One of the beneficiaries was probably me, because I relaxed for a month, turned off my brain, read interesting books, and watched TV. I wasn’t receiving calls and wasn’t disturbed. No one called me at 3 AM to say that there was an incident in the hospital, and so on. The citizens of Armenia that I could have helped were the ones who suffered, but since I was imprisoned for a month, I couldn’t do that,” said Charchyan.

Addressing his health status, Armen Charchyan stated that it is a very personal matter for him and can only say one thing: the long road he has traveled has its price. “And that price is life, and health,” emphasized Charchyan.

He mentioned that he is not currently the director of the Izmirlian Medical Center by his own request, having asked the founder for a temporary leave from that position to avoid any speculation.

“Today, I have two options before me: to return to the management of Izmirlian Medical Center or to accept the mandate and continue my activities in the National Assembly as a member of parliament,” noted Armen Charchyan.
