The Question of Appointing Samvel Babayan Has Become the Government's Paramount Goal
The newspaper "Hraparak" writes: "The question of appointing former commander of the Defense Army Samvel Babayan has become the paramount goal of Nikol Pashinyan's government. Appointing this candidate, who is rejected by the Russian authorities, to a key position in the Ministry of Defense has become impossible, and Babayan does not wish to take on a secondary or tertiary role.
Initially, there was a discussion that he would become the Minister of Defense, and recently there has been talk of a possible appointment to the position of Military Inspector of Armenia. However, the Babayan-Pashinyan duo has been contemplating forming a new link to completely control the Ministry of Defense in recent days. It remains unclear whether this will take shape as a regulatory body subordinate to the government or as another structure.
We were told that they are currently discussing schemes for creating such a position and appointing Babayan. Now, with their 71 mandates in the National Assembly, any creation of a new link or formation of any structure, even the most absurd, is possible." More details in today's issue of the newspaper.
