Armenia to Utilize Its Entire Geopolitical Toolkit, Says Armen Grigoryan on Border Situation
On July 20, Acting Foreign Minister Armen Grigoryan met with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The key topic of the meeting was the situation arising from Azerbaijan's encroachments on Armenia's sovereign territory, particularly the intrusion of Azerbaijani armed forces into the regions of Syunik and Gegharkunik, as well as the creation of a new hotspot of tension in the Ararat region towards the village of Yeraskh during the past week.
During the meeting, Armen Grigoryan noted that alongside these actions, the official Baku was making territorial and historical claims against Armenia that clearly indicate Azerbaijan's expansionist intentions towards the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
It was emphasized that the use of force against the people of Artsakh and the inadequate response of the international community to mass atrocities, including ethnic cleansing, have emboldened Azerbaijan to make the application of force a permanent tool of its policy, threatening regional security and peace.
In this context, Armen Grigoryan specifically highlighted: “The Republic of Armenia and the entire Armenian people will not tolerate such violations of their rights. Today, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia are fully fulfilling their obligations to guarantee the territorial integrity of Armenia. Armenia will utilize its entire geopolitical toolkit, also cooperating through appropriate bilateral and multilateral formats.”
Armen Grigoryan emphasized that Armenia expects a clear response from its international partners regarding Azerbaijan's similar violations of international law. It was particularly stressed that without the resumption of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and ultimately resolving the conflict, the region will continuously face new attempts to disrupt security.
“Armenia is ready to engage in the peaceful resolution process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on the approaches proposed by the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group, which reaffirm the principles developed by the co-chairmanship, including the right to self-determination,” noted Armen Grigoryan.
