Turkmenistan Prepares for Summit with Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey

The summit of the leaders of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey is set to take place in August. This was announced by President Berdimuhamedov on Saturday during an extended government meeting, as reported by turkmenportal.

It has been reported that the consultative meeting of Central Asian state leaders will occur on August 6 in Awaza. It is likely that a trilateral summit with the participation of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey will also take place in the national tourism zone located on the Caspian Sea coast.

One of the main topics expected to be discussed during the negotiations of the three countries' presidents will be the issue of exporting Turkmenistan's energy resources to Europe. On January 21, 2021, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan in Ashgabat regarding the joint exploration, development, and utilization of the "Dostluk" hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea.
