Soldier Dies on Way to Hospital: Position Commander Arrested

On July 16, 2021, around 21:45, conscript soldier Arthur Khachatur Ghazaryan sustained a gunshot wound to the head due to a breach of combat duty regulations at the firing position of Military Unit N of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. Ghazaryan died on the way to the military hospital.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Fifth Garrison Investigation Division of the Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under part 3 of Article 365 of the Armenian Criminal Code, concerning violations related to military service.

The position commander, Lieutenant H.A., has been arrested on suspicion of committing an offense under the same article of the Armenian Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing.
