President of the European Council Arrives in Georgia

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has arrived in Georgia on an official visit. According to Novosti-Georgia, Michel's plane landed at Batumi International Airport. This marks his third visit to Georgia since the beginning of the year. This visit is part of a tour of the countries in the South Caucasus.

At the airport, Michel was greeted by the country's Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani, the EU Ambassador to Georgia, as well as Georgian journalists holding photos and banners of the recently deceased operator Aleksandr Lashkarava. Their action aims to draw the European official's attention to the events that occurred in Tbilisi on July 5, when journalists covering a rally against representatives of the LGBT community were assaulted.

It is reported that tomorrow the President of the European Council will hold a joint meeting with the leaders of Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova, and will also participate in the annual international conference titled 'The EU's Attraction Power and the Region's Transformation.'

It should be noted that today Michel met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, and the day before he held a meeting with Armenia's Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
