“Do Not Confuse Me with Erdogan”: Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s Call to the World

The leader of the main opposition force in Turkey, the Republican People's Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, has addressed the issue of transferring the security of Kabul's airport in Afghanistan to Turkish forces. According to Ermenihaber, the opposition party leader criticized the Turkish authorities' decision to send troops to Afghanistan. He made this statement in a post on Twitter.

“I call on the world not to confuse me with Erdogan. I come from the irregular forces (Kuva-yi Milliye – the forces established by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founding president of the Republic of Turkey). No one can make my soldier a guard nor my country an open prison for refugees. I have eaten no haram (forbidden) food. Let me say in advance: very difficult negotiations await you,” he wrote.

It should be noted that Turkey has proposed to send troops to Afghanistan to protect and continue operating Kabul's international airport following the withdrawal of American forces and other NATO countries from Afghanistan. The U.S. and its partners have agreed on a plan for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan by September 11.
