Lusine Avetyan, Chief of Karahunj Community, Testifies Against Arush Arushanyan
The chief of the Karahunj community in Goris, Lusine Avetyan, has provided testimony against Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan. This information was revealed to reporters by Arushanyan's attorney, Arman Melkonyan.
As previously reported, the court of general jurisdiction for the Kentron and Nor Nork administrative districts, presided over by Karen Farhkoyan, decided to detain Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan.
According to Melkonyan, “The detained individual, an elderly woman who initially completely denied that Arushanyan had said anything at all, later stated during questioning days later, ‘Yes, Arushanyan said to vote for the “Armenia” alliance.’”
Melkonyan mentioned that one of Avetyan's sons-in-law is part of the law enforcement system, while the other is a prosecutor. “But it is the court's responsibility; I regret that. There has been nothing written by the investigator that we could leave a stone unturned, and the court was nodding in agreement. What kind of theater is this? Let’s immediately connect with the Special Investigative Service and be done with this,” he said.
The attorney intends to appeal the court's decision in the Court of Appeals, as he hopes for a better outcome there.
It should be noted that Goris's mayor has been charged under Articles 35-154.2 (part 4, point 2), 38-149 (part 2, point 4), and 38-154.2 (part 3) of the RA Criminal Code, related to the violation of the secrecy of voting and obstructing the exercise of electoral rights.
