Armenian Chess Player Haik Martirosyan Defeats Turkey's Representative
In the ongoing World Chess Cup in Sochi, the first games of the second round took place today. Out of the five Armenian chess players, only Haik Martirosyan emerged victorious, defeating Turkey's representative Mustafa Yılmaz with the black pieces.
Shant Sargsyan, despite having a positional advantage against Azerbaijani grandmaster Niyat Abasov, could not capitalize on it and ultimately ended up drawing the game.
Meanwhile, members of the Armenian team Gabriel Sargsyan and Hovhannes Gabuzyan lost to Indian grandmaster Praggnanandhaa and Egyptian Basem Amin respectively.
