VIDEO: Intentional Act or Negligence? Explosion in the Center of Hrazdan

On July 11th, at 19:45, the Hrazdan Medical Center reported to the Hrazdan police that a 42-year-old man from the Kentron district had been admitted with "fragmented wounds to the lower extremities, head trauma, and craniocerebral injury."

The dispatched operational group found that about half an hour before the alert, under the influence of alcohol, the man had taken a grenade detonator from his home, sat alone in a yard pavilion, and detonated it.

Police have not yet had the opportunity to talk to the 42-year-old man, as he is reportedly unable to provide an explanation according to the doctor’s report. The investigation will determine whether the explosion was a result of intentional action or negligence. However, this incident serves as another reminder to urge our compatriots to surrender any illegally held weapons and ammunition.

During the preparation of materials, law enforcement discovered that the injured man had brought the detonator from Artsakh. Not only the detonator: his home was found to contain polyethylene-wrapped bags containing 3 grenades, three grenade detonators, and 119 cartridges. The ammunition has been packed and sealed for examination. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
