After the Opening of Borders, 13,342 Armenian Citizens Visited Georgia
In June, international travel to Georgia increased by 294.2% compared to the same period last year, reported the National Tourism Administration. Overall, in June, international travelers made 116.6 thousand visits to Georgia, of which 104.6 thousand were for tourism purposes. At the same time, compared to the previous year, the number of tourist visits increased by 286.8%.
The total number of visits from January to June reached 446.1 thousand, which is 66.4% less than the same period in 2020.
In May, the highest number of visits to Georgia came from citizens of Turkey, Ukraine, Israel, Russia, and Armenia, with 13,342 Armenian citizens visiting Georgia. The country reopened its air borders on February 1, and according to the Ministry of Economy, flight volumes had recovered to 65% compared to the pandemic period by May. Additionally, as of June 1, Georgia has opened its land borders.
