Language Committee Addresses Linguistic Design of Police Vehicles and Uniforms
The Language Committee of the Republic of Armenia has released a statement regarding the linguistic design of police vehicles and uniforms. The statement reads:
“The official language of the Republic of Armenia is Armenian. According to law and legal power, the state language prevails. The information displayed on police vehicles and uniforms predominantly features a foreign language, which does not comply with Article 20 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and the Law on Language of the Republic of Armenia.
The Language Committee, within the scope of its legally mandated authority, is taking necessary measures to clarify the circumstances related to the issue and to ensure that the established legal procedures are followed.
The Language Committee highly appreciates the public's commitment to the official language, which serves as an additional impetus for the Committee's daily work in ensuring the primacy of the Armenian language.”
