No animals infected with anthrax detected at Martuni livestock market: Food Safety Authority
This morning, inspectors from the Food Safety Authority's Gegharkunik regional center conducted a visit to the country's largest livestock market located in the Martuni region, according to the Food Safety Authority (FSA).
"The purpose of the visit was to check whether the live animal sellers are meeting the requirements and conditions that must be maintained for transporting animals to the livestock market. The inspection was also followed by the head of the inspection body, Georgi Avetisyan, and his deputy, Arthur Shatvoryan. Special attention was given to exclude the entry of animals from the Vanevan and Torfavans villages in Gegharkunik region, where anthrax had recently been discovered in animals.
During the visit, no sick animals were detected. Nevertheless, the market will remain under strict control by the FSA," stated the FSA's report.
