Who Will Replace the Mayor of Meghri: 'Hraparak'
A few hours ago, it became known that the Mayor of Meghri, Mkrtich Zakaryan, has submitted his resignation. As the public tries to understand why the mayor hastily resigned, especially when there is still no ruling from the Constitutional Court, and it is unclear how the electoral saga will conclude, questions arise. Did he resign solely to take his mandate?
We were informed that candidates for the position of acting mayor of Meghri are being discussed. According to sources from 'Hraparak', the post of acting mayor has been offered to local ruling party member Ararat Tumanyan.
It is worth noting that the governor of Syunik appoints the acting mayor, but the candidacy of such a key community leader is definitively approved by the Prime Minister. Tumanyan is not only a loyal member of the ruling party, but he is also a coach of Shotokan karate in Meghri, posting videos from training camps on his Facebook page, aside from the rhetoric and propaganda texts of the political bloc.
This indicates that ahead of the elections slated for autumn, the authorities are replacing the rebellious mayors of Syunik with loyal acting mayors, thus preparing fertile ground for yet another victory in the elections.
