Video: First Footage from the Pashinyan-Putin Meeting Revealed
During a meeting in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on his victory in the parliamentary elections.
“The important thing is the confidence of the people. You have that, and it shows from the election results. This is very important. In such difficult times in the life of a country, this is the most crucial condition for further development,” said the Russian leader.
Pashinyan addressed security-related issues and the recent active discussions surrounding them. He spoke about the unstable situation in the region, emphasizing the role and efforts of the Russian president and Russia in the matter of establishing a ceasefire.
“Since the deployment of Russian peacekeepers, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh has been stable, but occasionally hotspots of instability arise. Today, I would like to share assessments with you regarding why this happens. The situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is also unstable. We have talked about this many times, and there is a constant concern in this area over the last two months,” Pashinyan said, expressing hope that discussions on this matter would take place today.
Regarding the return of 15 Armenian prisoners of war, Pashinyan again highlighted the role of the Russian side and mentioned his phone call with the Russian president on June 24, a week before the return of the prisoners.
Speaking about economic cooperation and the construction of the South Caucasus railway, Pashinyan noted that the renewal of railway complexes in Armenia is currently in full swing. According to him, major investment projects are being implemented, and this year the volume of exports from Armenia to Russia is increasing. Armenia has already received more than 110,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine.
