Armenian Wrestlers Secure 6 Medals at European Youth Championships
From June 28 to July 4, the European Youth Wrestling Championships took place in Dortmund, Germany, where 18 Armenian wrestlers participated, and 6 of them became medalists. This is reported by ArmSport.am.
The freestyle wrestlers were the first to compete, among whom Lyova Gevorgyan (125 kg) clinched the title of European Champion. Beginning from the qualification round, the Armenian wrestler celebrated 3 impressive victories, and in the finals, he did not give Azerbaijani Aydin Ahmadov a chance, winning with a score of 11-0.
Manvel Khndzrtsyan (57 kg) and Levik Mikayelyan (61 kg) won silver medals, while Sergey Sargsyan (92 kg) and Narek Harutyunyan (70 kg) took home bronze.
The Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling youth team competed with 10 wrestlers, among whom Shant Khachatryan (67 kg) became a bronze medalist.
The following athletes also participated in the European Championship: Tigran Ghazaryan (65 kg), Musheg Mkrtchyan (74 kg), Knyaz Ibonyan (79 kg), Garnik Hovhannisyan (55 kg), David Jotyan (60 kg), Vladimir Haroyan (63 kg), Sahak Hovhannisyan (72 kg), Ashot Kirakosyan (77 kg), Rafik Mikheyev (82 kg), Vigen Nazaryan (87 kg), Samvel Sargsyan (97 kg), and Albert Vardanian (130 kg).
