Video: Critical Water Levels Recorded in Sochi Due to Rain

In Sochi, streets have turned into rivers, making movement possible only by boat or swimming. The strong currents are sweeping away even cars.

A flood has begun in the resort city due to heavy rainfall that started the previous day. Several rivers have overflowed their banks. Basements and the ground floors of buildings have been submerged.

As a result of the heavy rains, critical water levels have been recorded in the Kheryota and Matsesta rivers in Sochi, prompting the Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters to advise residents to prepare for possible evacuation and gather necessary belongings.

It is noted that, if necessary, the staff of “Kuban SPAS” and the “Sochi Rescue Service” are on duty to assist the population.

In several rivers, the water levels have risen to critical levels, damaging beach infrastructure, several boarding houses and hotels, while some streets have been flooded. Beaches are closed, swimming is prohibited, and excursions have been canceled. Residents are urged to prepare their documents and essential items for evacuation.
