Hayk Marutyan Responds to Authorities: New Developments
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports: According to information from the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, the Armenian authorities have sent envoys to Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan, informing him that he should submit his resignation and leave. However, Marutyan has stated that he intends to remain in his position and should notify the authorities accordingly.
Reliable sources have indicated that during this time, Hayk Marutyan has become more cautious, not fulfilling his duties, refraining from signing any documents, and avoiding entering into any legal processes to prevent becoming vulnerable.
It is possible that any document he signs could be used against him, which is why Marutyan has resorted to inaction. The situation is that he has told his close team that he is determined to protect himself at all costs and is meeting with a group of lawyers to understand the legal consequences of not submitting his resignation.
In other words, Marutyan has decided to resist and has entered a fierce struggle against the authorities. According to our information, the authorities are also determined not to yield and are confident that they will achieve their goal.
At this moment, the government has decided that if they succeed in Marutyan's resignation, they will not hold new elections for the Mayor of Yerevan, but will choose one of the current council members to appoint as the Mayor.
It should be noted that the government aimed to appoint council member Armen Kotolyan as mayor, but how realistic this will be in the near future is difficult to predict.
