31-Year-Old Woman Strangles Man with Towel

On July 2, 2021, around 01:00, a report was received at the Nairi division of the RA Police from a woman regarding a murder committed in the area known as "Monuments" in Yeghvard. An investigative-operational group immediately went to the scene, where they discovered the body of a 61-year-old man from Yeghvard in an "Opel Astra" vehicle, who had been strangled.

According to preliminary data, a quarrel and scuffle took place in the mentioned vehicle, during which the alleged perpetrator strangled the man with a towel. A criminal case has been opened at the Nairi investigative division of the Kotayk regional investigative department under Article 104, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

As a result of urgent investigative actions and operational measures, various circumstances of the case have been clarified, including the motive and the identity of the alleged perpetrator, who is a 31-year-old resident of Kapan. An examination of the crime scene revealed a towel and female hair. A forensic examination has been appointed to determine significant circumstances related to the case.

The 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and has provided a self-incriminating testimony during the interrogation. The pre-trial investigation continues, with measures being taken to conduct an objective and comprehensive investigation and verify the circumstances mentioned in the testimonies.
