Video: Water Supplier Regularly Locks Irrigation Valve; Nork Forest Has Not Been Irrigated for Months
On June 24, the Hetq filming crew visited the Nork Forest near the television tower. Residents in the area are concerned that the hard-won forests are not being irrigated. The lack of irrigation during the extreme heat poses a significant fire risk. In June alone, two fires have already erupted in the forest.
They say they have reached out to Hayantar State Non-Commercial Organization, but the issue remains unresolved. Residents also assert that the reason for the lack of irrigation is not due to the absence of water, but rather related to the water supplier, which regularly locks the irrigation valve.
In contrast, Hayantar claims that “the irrigation system in the Nork Forest is functioning smoothly” and that “irrigation work is carried out periodically.” According to Simon Petrosyan, Deputy Director of Hayantar, the organization has a contract with the supplying company and orders irrigation water when necessary, paying for it accordingly.
Wastewater is being discharged into the forest. Residents claim that this is part of the sewage coming from the H1 building. Years ago, there was an accident that has not yet been resolved. This issue has also been pending a final solution for a long time, with all attempts to rectify the problem being inadequate.
An employee from H1 informed us that they do not have comprehensive information regarding the sewage discharge into the forest and advised us to contact the company responsible for drainage.
