Traffic Police Officer Abuses Official Position and Engages in Fraud

Through operational and investigative measures taken by the Internal Security Department of the Police, instances of abuse of official authority and fraudulent activities by a traffic police officer have been uncovered.

As a result of the operational measures, it was determined that on May 26, a traffic police officer at the "Zvartnots" airport, driven by selfish interest and personal gain, misused his official position against the interests of the service. Instead of documenting detected administrative violations, he promised, allegedly in response to the requests of drivers, to prepare a report for an administrative violation that foresees a lesser fine for traffic rule violations, or to document only one of several offenses, as well as to present incompletely filled out or entirely blank forms of reports and resolutions for the drivers' signatures to create a false impression of documenting violations.

Subsequently, under the pretext of collecting administrative fines on the spot, he received various amounts of money from drivers who had violated traffic rules. The materials of the service investigation initiated by the Internal Security Department have been sent to the Special Investigative Service, where a criminal case has been initiated regarding the fact. Circumstances are being clarified during the preliminary investigation.
