The Czech Ambassador to Russia Invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Czech Ambassador to Russia, Vitezslav Pivonka, has been invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Prague's new demands concerning the explosions at ammunition depots in the village of Vrbetice in 2014, for which the Czech side blames Russian special services. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, according to TASS agency.

“We consider the Czech side's proposal to discuss its demands, of course, unacceptable. We will present our stance on this political circus in the near future to the head of the Czech diplomatic mission in Moscow, who has been invited to Smolensk Square,” Zakharova said.

As previously reported, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Smolek lodged a diplomatic protest with Russian Ambassador Alexander Zmeevsky in the Czech Republic, demanding full compensation for the damages caused by the explosion. According to reports, the Czech authorities have estimated the damages at around 650 million koruna (25.5 million euros).
