Vardenis Resident Directed Villager to Vote and Remove Specified Number from Polling Station
On June 29, 2021, a resident of the city of Vardenis reported to the Armenian police that on June 20, during the snap parliamentary elections, a 27-year-old resident of the same city approached him in front of polling station No. 21/52 and urged him to vote for one of the alliances. As a guarantee, he asked to take out the ballot with the specified number from the polling station.
After casting his vote, he met with the 27-year-old man and showed him the ballot he had taken out. This information has been reported by the Investigative Committee.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Vardenis police department under Article 154, parts 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and the case has been sent to the Vardenis investigative division of the Gegharkunik regional investigative department for further processing.
During the pre-trial investigation, a signature was imposed on the resident of Vardenis not to leave, and he was interrogated as a suspect. The 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of violating the secrecy of voting. The investigation is ongoing.
