Mkhitar Hayrapetyan Will No Longer Be in Parliament: It’s Known What Position He Might Take

According to the newspaper ‘Zhoghovurd’,
MP from the ‘My Step’ faction of the National Assembly and head of the Standing Committee on Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, will no longer be in Parliament. According to the newspaper’s sources, Hayrapetyan has already informed the Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that he wishes to be in the executive branch.

Hayrapetyan’s dream has been to take the position of Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, however, according to our information, Pashinyan intends to reappoint the current minister, Vahram Dumanyan, to that position, while Hayrapetyan finds himself facing a closed door.

According to the newspaper, there are discussions about appointing Mkhitar Hayrapetyan as the deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, with a focus on Diaspora matters, and it seems that this would appeal to Hayrapetyan. The decision is not final yet, and these issues are still in the discussion phase, while Hayrapetyan is also seeking options.

It is noteworthy that before the early parliamentary elections, Hayrapetyan urged Pashinyan not to include him in the electoral list, as he has no desire to return to Parliament. In the last moment, he was placed at the very end of the list, under number 157,” reports the newspaper.
