We Promised a Purge and It Will Happen: Armen Grigoryan
We promised a purge and it will happen. The state system must be cohesive and unequivocally serve the winning party. This was stated by Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council, during an interview broadcast on Public Television today.
“We have received a mandate for a purge, we will carry out a purge and reform the system, which has resisted numerous reforms,” he said.
According to his forecasts, Robert Kocharian’s bloc will share the fate of Levon Ter-Petrosyan. He noted that those who anticipated that there would be post-electoral processes were mainly basing their predictions on their own experiences.
“No one has forgotten about the border situation; intensive negotiations are underway with Russia, and we hope that it will be resolved as soon as possible. We can say that the resolution process has started. It has begun, but there is the Azerbaijani factor here, and we cannot say what behavior Azerbaijan will exhibit. It is clear that Russian border troops will adhere to the maps that existed during the Soviet Union; the Azerbaijanis will withdraw from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, and the issue will be resolved,” he said, adding that they are moving towards a diplomatic solution.
“By the way, the purpose of this invasion is to affect the elections in Armenia, and after the elections, an intensive process has already begun to resolve this,” he noted, adding that the Azerbaijanis are gradually withdrawing.
“We are also considering reducing the term of military service and increasing the size of the professional army,” he mentioned, indicating that there is even efficiency in terms of financing.
Armen Grigoryan firmly stated that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not resolved because the status issue is unsettled. In his conviction, at some point, Aliyev will negotiate as well. He is also confident that the Russians will not withdraw for another 4-5 years.
