American Air Force Destroys Drone Base and Warehouses in Syria and Iraq: NYT

During the night, the American Air Force targeted two locations in Syria and one in Iraq. The latter was a base used for operations involving drones against U.S. troops. This was reported by The New York Times, citing sources from President Joe Biden's administration.

According to the outlet, Iran-backed armed groups operating in Iraq have increasingly deployed drones in recent months. The aim of the strikes was to deprive the militants of such capabilities. The attacks were carried out using laser-guided bombs.

It was noted that both targeted locations in Syria mainly served as storage facilities. The White House believes that there were few people present at all three sites.

The decision to conduct the strikes was personally made by Joe Biden, following discussions with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley.
