Fire in Hong Kong Leads to Damage of 16 Vessels, at Least 10 Sunk

A major fire broke out at the Hong Kong port, damaging 16 vessels, with at least 10 reported sunk on Sunday, June 27, according to Reuters.

The fire reportedly started at around 2:30 AM in the port area. Firefighters worked for over six hours to extinguish the blaze.

“Explosions from fuel containers were heard, and thick smoke rose into the sky, covering the docks and nearby high-rise buildings,” the report states.

Firefighters managed to rescue 35 individuals from the vessels, and no injuries have been reported. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
