Major Car Accident in Kotayk Region: Mercedes Crashes into Iron Barriers

Today, June 26, a major car accident occurred in the Kotayk region. At approximately 00:05, Stepan Galstyan, a 45-year-old resident of Yerevan, was driving a Mercedes C230 on the Yerevan-Sevan highway. While heading towards Sevan, he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, crashed into iron barriers installed in the median, and continued approximately 30 meters before coming to a stop in the median area.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, driver S. Galstyan and his passenger, 32-year-old Nastya Chekhovskaya, a citizen of Russia, sustained bodily injuries and were transported to the Charentsavan hospital. After receiving initial medical assistance, they were transferred to the number 1 university hospital.

Citizens were the first to respond and provide aid, followed by the rapid response of the Kotayk regional rescue department's number 44 fire and rescue squad, which arrived with one firefighting unit. The rescuers extricated the driver from the vehicle.
