Ani Consolidated Community Head Charged with Abuse of Power
The Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee has revealed incidents of abuse by the head of the Ani consolidated community as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. This was reported by the information and public relations department of the RA Investigative Committee.
According to the obtained data, the community leader, who has held the position since November 5, 2017, made unilateral decisions abusing his official powers to allocate an apartment on a rental basis in one of the buildings on Dzherzhinsky Street in the city of Maralik, for his female relative who was absent from the Republic of Armenia. This created a precondition for members of the council to vote in favor of transferring the aforementioned apartment to her as a gift.
After receiving the consent of the community council members, he decided to grant the apartment to his relative as a gift. Subsequently, a donation agreement was signed between the representative of the municipality and the woman, resulting in the apartment being transferred to her without compensation, causing significant harm to the legitimate interests of the community.
Based on the gathered sufficient evidence, the head of the Ani consolidated community has been charged under part 1 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code (abuse of official powers). A signature prohibiting him from leaving has been applied as a preventive measure.
The pre-investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the proceedings with a request for it to be forwarded to court with an accusatory conclusion.
Notice: A person suspected or accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty by a legally binding court decision in accordance with the procedures established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code.
