Video: Murder in Geghashen Community of Kotayk Province Solved
On the night of June 15, a 41-year-old resident of Geghashen village in Kotayk Province was transported to the Abovyan Medical Center in an unconscious state. The hospital notified the Kotayk police department, reporting that he had sustained multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. The injuries were incompatible with life; the man died in the operating room.
Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated in the Abovyan investigative department on charges of murder. Operative teams from the Kotayk division departed for Geghashen. The crime scene was identified. Through operational inquiries, several circumstances of the incident became clear. The event had occurred at a site known as the 'Light Cemetery' in the village. An examination of the area revealed clothing with blood-like stains, blood traces, a beer bottle, a metal rod, a knife, and other items. The murder had been preceded by a domestic dispute.
Criminal investigators from Kotayk, in collaboration with the regional department and the personnel of the Abovyan investigative department, undertook a series of operational and investigative measures. As a result of this joint effort, the identity of the person suspected of committing the murder became known.
Measures were initiated to locate the 36-year-old resident of Kamaris village in Kotayk Province, along with explanatory work. Consequently, on June 23, the suspect went to the Kotayk police department, from where he was transferred to the Abovyan investigative department and arrested. The preliminary investigation of the initiated criminal case is ongoing.
