Trial of Armenian Captives Lyudvig Mkrtchyan and Alyosha Khosrovyan Continues in Baku: Details
The trial of Armenian captives Lyudvig Mkrtchyan and Alyosha Khosrovyan continued in Baku on June 23. The two were captured during the second Artsakh war, as reported by the Trend agency. They are accused of allegedly torturing Azerbaijani captives and committing other crimes during the first Artsakh war.
Alyosha Khosrovyan stated that he partially admits his guilt. "I consider myself partially guilty... I crossed the border of Azerbaijan twice without permission," Khosrovyan announced. He mentioned that he has some familiarity with the Azerbaijani language. "I know some words, but I cannot say that I am fluent. I had Azerbaijani neighbors in Kapan. Then they moved to Azerbaijan," Khosrovyan added. He also noted that he was captured in Jabrayil.
The judicial process will continue on June 30.
It is noteworthy that the trial of Armenian captives Lyudvig Mkrtchyan and Alyosha Khosrovyan began on June 2 in Baku. Lyudvig Mkrtchyan is accused of allegedly torturing 12 Azerbaijani captives during the first Artsakh war in 1991 and holding them in the forest near the village of Aygestan for about 17 days. The Azerbaijani side has not settled for this accusation and also charges Mkrtchyan with allegedly beating Azerbaijani servicemen captured in the Martuni and Martakert regions, in the Shushi prison, and in Yerevan, as well as allegedly killing one Azerbaijani serviceman.
Alyosha Khosrovyan is also accused of inhuman and cruel treatment of five Azerbaijani captives. The Azerbaijani propaganda mechanism claims that in April 1994, Khosrovyan forced an Azerbaijani serviceman to "participate in heavy construction work for the house of Samvel Babayan, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh". Additionally, Khosrovyan is accused of allegedly torturing Azerbaijani captives held in Shushi prison between 1993 and 1994.
