Tragic Incident in Yerevan: Man's Body Discovered in Gorge Near St. Sarkis Church

Today, on June 23, a tragic incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 16:30, the emergency situations ministry's rescue service received alerts at their 911 line and the operational management center of the Yerevan police department about a man's body found in a gorge in an inaccessible area near St. Sarkis Church in the Hrazdan gorge.

According to Shamshyan.com, the rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, led by Commander David Nersisyan, quickly arrived at the scene. Also present was an operational group from the central police department, led by department head Arman Papyan and his deputy for operational issues, Ervand Nikoyan.

Rescuers faced significant challenges in transporting the body to a safe location, and a forensic doctor is currently working at the site. A group from the Investigative Committee of Armenia, specifically from the Yerevan investigative department for the Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts, has also arrived, led by department head Simon Harutyunyan and senior investigator Vahram Tigranyan, who handles particularly important cases.

Senior investigator V. Tigranyan is overseeing the investigative work at the scene, and materials are being prepared related to the incident. The police and the investigative department are working to determine the identity of the deceased. A forensic examination of the body has been ordered by the investigator.

Notice: A suspect or accused in a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty according to the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, under a legally binding court verdict.
