Tragic Incident in Gegharkunik: Son Kills Mother and Then Commits Suicide

The Investigative Committee reports that on June 17, 2021, at 23:15, the police received a call from the "Sevan" medical center regarding a resident of Nalbandyan Street in Sevan, who was admitted with a diagnosis of "questionable cranial injury, questionable acute disturbance of cerebral blood circulation, and comatose state."

A criminal case was initiated in the Sevan division of the RA police based on Article 112, Part 2, Point 14 of the RA Criminal Code, which was forwarded to the Gegharkunik regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee for further investigation.

As a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions, it was established that between 16:30 and 21:00 on June 14, 2021, a man living at the aforementioned address, born in 1967, intentionally inflicted blows on his mother, causing her death due to negligence.

Days later, on June 22 at 01:55, a call was received from the husband, born in 1967, who is the son of the deceased woman, stating that he had committed suicide by hanging in their apartment on Nalbandyan Street in Sevan. An examination of the scene was immediately conducted, leading to the collection of items and objects, and a forensic examination of the body was appointed. Investigations are ongoing.

Note: The suspect in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Code of Criminal Procedure, as determined by a legally binding court judgment.
