They gave me 15 minutes to write a resignation letter and leave: Aragatsotn governor to health department head

Authorities, buoyed by election results, have started open political vendettas against their opponents from the very next day. Individuals working in various branches of state governance with opposition views or representing opposition parties are being summoned and coerced under threat to write resignation letters and leave. This is reported by Hraparak.

One such incident occurred yesterday involving the governor of Aragatsotn, David Gevorgyan, a member of the ruling party. Initially, he summoned the head of the health department, Meri Shahazizyan, through the chief secretary of his office, and later personally demanded her resignation.

"Yesterday, there was a verbal warning from the governor through the chief secretary that I must resign from my post. Today, the governor called me to his office, sitting with the deputy governor, and I entered. He told me: 'I am giving you 15 minutes to write a resignation letter and leave.' I replied that I would not be writing a resignation letter. He called me 'base', 'rude', and 'a liar', saying that I had been sitting here for a year and a half in the status of a pensioner, among other things. I told him not to yell at me, and he responded, 'Do not speak to me like that, you will have to answer to law enforcement for your words,' and so on. But I don’t know what I have done that would require me to answer to law enforcement. I said, ‘Fine, goodbye,’ and when I was leaving, I shut the door a bit hard, it made a noise. The governor followed me out and raised his voice, saying: 'Do not slam the door like that again or you will stay here, and you won't be able to leave,’” Meri Shahazizyan recounted.

She also indicated that David Gevorgyan has been trying to get rid of her for over a year, but has not been able to do so; now, after the elections, he has decided to get rid of her by any means necessary.
