Putin Discusses Cooperation with Aliyev in Phone Call

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which they discussed the activation of efforts to restore economic ties and transport communications in the South Caucasus, reported the Kremlin's press service.

It was noted that the phone call was initiated by the Azerbaijani side. “The practical aspects of implementing the agreements reached by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan regarding Nagorno-Karabakh on November 9, 2020, and January 11 were reviewed. Special attention was given to the activation of trilateral efforts to restore economic ties and transport communications in the South Caucasus,” the statement said.

According to the information disseminated by the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev also confirmed their intention to strengthen the Russian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership during the phone conversation. “While discussing current issues on the bilateral agenda, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed their mutual intention to further strengthen the Russian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership. An agreement was reached to continue communications at various levels,” the statement indicated.
