One of the Last Group of Returned Prisoners is Albert's Brother

The father of Albert Hovhannisyan, who was killed in the Artsakh war, Artak Hovhannisyan, wrote on his Facebook page that one of the boys who returned to Armenia with the last group of prisoners is Erik, Albert's brother. However, this information has not been disclosed until now for safety reasons.

“In 2020, when the hostilities began, Erik Gasparyan, the son of Albert Hovhannisyan’s uncle, was also in the same military unit in Jraberd (Jabrayil). Albert and the newly conscripted Erik managed to see each other once and were excited from their family reunion, but peace in Artsakh was disrupted. We searched for Erik for a long time; there was no news, and when evidence emerged that he had been taken prisoner, I remained silent to keep the familial connection between Albert and Erik undisclosed and urged everyone to do the same for Erik’s safety.

Thanks to the Lord, Erik has been back in his homeland for ten days and is with us now. Today we are at Albert's favorite place, the Haghartsin Monastery Complex; here, you can feel Albert’s presence in an inexplicable way, and unfortunately, this is how their meeting happened.

We prayed for the other compatriots still in captivity and for the missing soldiers. Boys who have overcome the devastation of war, dear Erik, I empathize with your pain; you are only young by the years you have lived, but you are incredibly strong and powerful,” Artak Hovhannisyan wrote.
