I Asked Nikol Pashinyan to Stop the War and I Agreed to Compromises, Arayik Harutyunyan

During a rally held yesterday in Stepanakert, the President of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, addressed the question of why the war did not stop sooner. He stated that the aggressive positions held by Azerbaijan and Turkey undermined three ceasefire agreements facilitated by the leaders of three major powers.

“As for the options to end the war by accepting Azerbaijan's demands, clarifications have been made on this several times. Nonetheless, I would like to emphasize that during the war, I have repeatedly expressed my position in favor of stopping the conflict. Moreover, I have done this publicly several times. For instance, my letter to the Prime Minister of Armenia on October 19 has already been published, in which I clearly request to halt the war and I have given my consent to compromises. Days later, my letter to the President of Russia was published, asking for support to stop the war. Not to mention how many non-public requests and appeals I have made,” he said.

Regarding the question of why the fighting was stopped on November 9, Harutyunyan noted that after the fall of Shushi, when Stepanakert and thousands of other servicemen were in real danger, he asked and demanded Nikol Pashinyan to stop the war as soon as possible and save the remaining parts of Artsakh.
