11-Year-Old Electrically Shocked Boy Breathing with Life Support as Doctors Fight for His Life

On June 17, 11-year-old Narek K. was admitted to the National Burn Center in Yerevan in extremely critical condition. The boy is currently breathing with the assistance of a life support machine. This was reported by Armtimes.com.

The center's deputy director, Karine Babayan, told us that the boy has 60 percent surface burns and 20 percent airway burns. "He has electrical burns with flames, diagnosed with first, second, third, and fourth-degree burns. In addition to being electrocuted, fire also erupted during the incident, causing him to be severely burned. This means he has combined traumas and electrocution," she explained.

According to Babayan, 11-year-old Narek was transported to the hospital already in a critically severe state. Doctors are now hopeful that he will stabilize and that they can perform some intervention. "We are awaiting a bright point, although the bronchial tree is completely burned," she added.

On the same day, Narek's peer, Grant Kh., was also admitted to the hospital, and doctors fought for his life for five days; however, they were unable to save him by June 22. "He had 90 percent surface burns and 10 percent airway burns. You know, when a person has electrical burns with flames—first, second, third, and fourth-degree burns—that is already incompatible with life, but we fought for his life. We performed numerous surgeries, functioning as much as possible, and removed the fluids that had accumulated in his body," the deputy director of the National Burn Center said.

According to the police, the 11-year-old boys were electrocuted due to an incident at the power distribution point on their street. Investigative materials are being prepared by the Mashtots Police Department regarding the incident.
