Video: A 42-Year-Old Man Who Fired Shots in Aygestan Neighborhood Yesterday Detained
In the 9th street of the Aygestan neighborhood in Yerevan, a 42-year-old man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, was detained on June 21st after firing shots. This was reported by the Police of the Republic of Armenia.
"On June 21, around 20:50, the Central Police Department received reports of gunshots. The callers indicated that shots were heard from the Aygestan neighborhood. Operational groups from the Central Police Department and the Marash Department were dispatched to Aygestan, where they carried out reconnaissance measures to locate the site of the incident. It was determined that the gunshots had originated from the 9th street. The reconnaissance efforts continued," said the statement.
According to the source, it soon became clear that one of the residents of building number 65 on the 9th street had fired shots from his apartment, reportedly while under the influence of alcohol.
"The 42-year-old man would not open the door. Police officers carried out explanatory work, which yielded results hours later. On the night of June 22, around 4 am, the man was detained and taken to the Central Police Department, where he presented to the investigative body conducting the preliminary investigation and provided a confession. Further measures led to the discovery of a 'Saiga' model smoothbore firearm, which is registered in the name of the detained individual. A criminal case has been initiated on the basis of hooliganism. Expert examinations have been appointed. The circumstances are being clarified," the Police of Armenia reported.
The suspect or accused party is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Armenia by a court decision that has entered into legal effect.
