Maria Zakharova Comments on Elections Held in Armenia
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, commented on the results of the early parliamentary elections held in the Republic of Armenia.
“The elections were monitored by numerous local (8,749) and foreign observers (483), including those from Russia. As stated by Ilkhom Nematov, the head of the CIS observer mission in Armenia, the elections were conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Electoral Code, and the observers did not report any gross violations that could have affected the voting results.
We expect that the results of the electoral process, following legislative formalization, will contribute to the development of Armenia, the further strengthening of Russian-Armenian relations, and the provision of peace, security, and stability throughout the South Caucasus region, particularly in terms of the complete implementation of the trilateral statements made by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021,” the statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.
