VIDEO: President Armen Sarkissian Issues a Call

President Armen Sarkissian of Armenia has issued a call, stating: "Dear compatriots, the pre-election campaign has concluded. Political forces had the opportunity, during more than 10 days, to present the programs and goals they intend to implement after receiving your votes.

Unfortunately, during this time, there were manifestations of intolerance, insults, and threats, as well as incidents that are not befitting any political force or figure that aspires to democracy or speaks about democracy. It is unacceptable, indefensible, and strictly condemnable to cross legal and moral boundaries, to escalate the situation, and especially, to incite hatred and enmity in any form.

I urge all parties and alliances participating in the elections, all candidates for deputy positions, to act with restraint and consideration in their actions and conduct, and to urge their supporters and followers to be tolerant and respectful, not to breach moral boundaries for political purposes.

I demand that law enforcement agencies strictly prevent any violation of law and order, be impartial, demonstrate the utmost responsibility, and act in accordance with the law. These elections are taking place in a complex, crisis situation and are of decisive importance for our state and people.

Dear compatriots, today is a day of silence. However, on Sunday, June 20, everyone must make their choice. Whichever political force you prefer, whatever your decision may be, remember that this is a decision made for the Homeland, for our state, for your and your family's tomorrow.
