22-year-old driver's BMW knocks down advertising billboard, breaks bench and ends up near flower salon entrance
Today, on June 17, a stunt-like car accident occurred in Yerevan. At around 00:50, 22-year-old Erik Gasparyan, a resident of Yerevan, lost control of his BMW 525 vehicle at the intersection of Komitas Avenue and Papazyan Street. He veered off the traffic lane, crashed into a basalt curb, continued forward, knocked down a massive advertising billboard, broke a bench installed on the sidewalk, and ended up in the pedestrian area, colliding with the door of a flower salon.
According to shamshyan.com, no injuries were reported in the accident. An emergency response team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' rescue service, specifically the 5th fire-rescue unit of Yerevan, arrived promptly. A crew of paramedics from Yerevan's 1-03 ambulance service also responded quickly, but the driver declined medical assistance, stating that he felt fine.
Preliminary information suggests that the cause of the accident was an emergency situation created for E. Gasparyan by the driver of a Porsche Cayenne. The driver of the Porsche Cayenne fled the scene. The BMW driver underwent a sobriety test on site, and it was determined that he was sober.
