Murder at the 'Light Grave' Shrine in Geghashen Village, Kotayk Region
A murder occurred in the Kotayk region yesterday, June 15. At approximately 23:00, the Kotayk police department received a report from the Abovyan medical center that a citizen with multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, along with severe hemorrhagic shock and unresponsive consciousness, was transported there. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries on the operating table.
According to shamshyan.com, Kotayk police chief Artur Zohrabyan and the head of the Kotayk police division, Saro Rostomyan, arrived at the hospital. Also present were the head of the Kotayk regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, Sahak Grigoryan, and the head of the Abovyan investigative division, Garnik Matevosyan.
Investigators quickly determined that the victim was 41-year-old Suren Davtyan, a resident of Geghashen village. They also discovered that the fatal injuries were inflicted the same day around 21:00 at the 'Light Grave' shrine in Geghashen village, where police and investigators found a knife (which may be the weapon used in the crime), blood-like traces, clothing, and opened beer bottles. All items were seized by the investigator leading the case, and several examinations were ordered, including a forensic examination of the body. Given the severity of the crime, Kotayk district prosecutor Petros Petrosyan also arrived at the scene.
According to site information, police and investigators have also identified a suspected individual, whose details are currently withheld for the integrity of the investigation. Necessary operational-search and investigative joint actions are underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident and locate the suspect.
