Grenade Secured to Neighbor's Trailer's Lever: Charges Filed for Attempted Murder
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has revealed details surrounding an attempted murder case involving a resident of Malishka village following extensive investigative and procedural actions in the Vayots Dzor regional investigative department.
According to information provided by the Investigative Committee, on March 7, 2021, at around 8:30 PM, a 61-year-old villager, seeking revenge over personal issues, attempted to unlawfully take the life of a fellow villager. He went to the area adjacent to his neighbor's private residence, where he had illegally acquired and stored a hand grenade filled with TNT and connected the detonator to the grenade using a wire.
The man then placed the grenade in a position where its detonator would activate upon the movement of the neighbor's trailer. The following day, around 1:00 PM, when the neighbor moved the trailer to connect it to his vehicle, the grenade detonated, causing him multiple shrapnel injuries.
It was also discovered that in addition to the aforementioned grenade, the 61-year-old man had illegally acquired and possessed other weapons and ammunition, which were confiscated during a search of his residence.
Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, the man has been charged under parts 1 of Article 235 and 34-104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. He has been detained as a procedural measure. The pre-investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been forwarded to the court with an accusatory conclusion.
