Charges Filed Against Two More Individuals for Offering and Giving Bribes

The Special Investigative Service reports that on June 20, 2021, V.V., a resident of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district in Yerevan, in preliminary agreement with Sh.D., offered and gave various amounts of bribes to a group of voters in the same district to ensure their votes in favor of political alliances participating in the extraordinary elections of the National Assembly of Armenia.

On June 14, V.V. and Sh.D. were arrested. They have been charged with committing a criminal act under points 1 and 2 of part 4 of Article 154.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia for offering and giving bribes to voters in agreement with one another.

A request has been submitted to the court by an investigator from the Special Investigative Service to choose pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint for V.V. and Sh.D. Another individual is also under suspicion in this criminal case. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Thus, in connection with the cases of vote-buying, a total of 5 individuals have been charged within the framework of 3 criminal cases being investigated by the Special Investigative Service, of which 3 have been detained. 9 individuals hold status as suspects.

The Special Investigative Service, in collaboration with the National Security Service and the Police of Armenia, is undertaking necessary operational-intelligence and investigative actions to uncover all circumstances of the above cases and identify all individuals involved in the criminal scheme of distributing bribes.
