A Resident of Vanand Village Kills a Fellow Villager: Investigative Committee Provides Details
The Investigative Committee's Armavir Division has uncovered the details surrounding the murder of a resident from Vanand village. One of the villagers has been arrested on suspicion of killing his fellow villager. The man died from a gunshot wound to the chest inflicted by a type "MR-155" hunting rifle. This information was shared in a statement by the Investigative Committee.
On June 14, 2021, at 22:55, a report was received from the Armavir Medical Center regarding the transfer of a young man's body with a gunshot wound.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Armavir regional investigative division of the RA Investigative Committee under Part 1 of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code.
Following urgent investigative and procedural actions, as well as joint measures conducted with police officers, a number of circumstances surrounding the man’s fatal injuries were determined, including the identities of the victim and the alleged culprits who are residents of Vanand village, incident site, and the motive.
Specifically, the investigation revealed that on the day of the incident, around 22:00, an argument occurred among a group of individuals near the former car gathering site at the end of Vanand village. During this dispute, the mentioned villager, with direct intent to unlawfully take a life, fired his registered "MR-155" type, 12 mm caliber hunting rifle at the chest area of his fellow villager, resulting in the latter’s immediate death from the heart injury sustained.
During the preliminary investigation, investigative and procedural actions have included an inspection of the crime scene, where five fired cartridges of 12mm caliber and blood-like traces were discovered. Samples were collected, the alleged perpetrator submitted the rifle used as the weapon of the crime, and individuals present at the scene were interrogated, from whom samples of the bullet’s residue were taken. Expert examinations have been appointed to clarify essential circumstances of the criminal case.
On the same day, a resident of Vanand village was arrested on suspicion of killing his fellow villager. Necessary measures are being taken to ascertain the complete circle of participants in the incident, to identify and present them to the prosecuting authority, and to ensure an objective and comprehensive investigation.
