Investigation into Boeing Incident in Iran Concluded by Civil Aviation Committee

The Civil Aviation Committee has announced the conclusion of the professional investigation into the incident involving the Boeing B737-300 EK-FAA aircraft operated by the company Fly Armenia Airways during its one-time technical transfer flights on February 19 and 20, 2021. The investigation noted serious shortcomings threatening flight safety.

“Based on the identified deficiencies, as well as the fact that Fly Armenia Airways currently does not have any airworthy aircraft for operation, a decision has been made to suspend the operator's certificate of aircraft number 070. We also inform that the investigation related to this case is ongoing within the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia,” the statement reads.

The statement reminds the public that the incident pertains to the unauthorized landing of a Boeing B737-300 aircraft operated by Fly Armenia Airways at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport on February 20, 2021, which has been stationed at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport since April 23, 2021.
