Charges Filed Against Goris Mayor

The Investigative Committee has announced the conclusion of the investigation into the criminal case against Arush Arushanyan, the head of the Goris community, for abusing official powers, engaging in illegal entrepreneurship, violating the rules of subsoil conservation and use, self-justice, and causing medium bodily harm intentionally.

According to a report from the Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Investigative Committee, extensive investigative and procedural actions were conducted by the main department for the investigation of especially important cases.

It has been clarified that Arush Arushanyan, who has served as the mayor of Goris community in Syunik Province since November 2017, aimed to engage in mining and processing of minerals within the administrative area of the Verishen settlement in Goris community. To achieve this goal, he first registered ownership rights over a 0.555 ha agricultural land plot located within the administrative boundaries of Verishen community and subsequently placed it up for auction through a decision of the Goris community council.
